FAQ

 

1. Where is gēn 根 located?

We're located at Unit 6, 8 Gat Lebuh Gereja, 10300 Georgetown. We're sharing the same roof with The Prestige Hotel. Please refer to the map below for further reference.

 

2. What is your operating business hours?

We open at 12:00 to 15:00 for lunch service (Last order: 14:00) and 18:00 to 23:00 for dinner service (Last order: 21:30). Please note that we're closed on every Wednesday. For future special events or public holidays, we still reserve the final rights on closing dates.

 

3. Do you serve ala-carte at gēn 根?

For a fuller dining experience with us, we cater to the tasting menu only. If you wish to try out the ala-carte concept, you may visit our sister restaurant, gēn 根 Communal Table that is located at 68 Lebuh Presgrave, 10300 Georgetown, Penang. Please note that our sister restaurant only operates for dinner service and closed on every Monday.

 

4. Do you cater for children?

Children are welcome to the restaurant, however, please note that we do not provide children menu or children facilities. For children at 12 years old and below may share the portion with their parents during dining in. For children above 12 years old in the group, please include the number of children and a full adult menu will be charged. 

 

5. Do you cater to dietary restrictions?

Yes, kindly remark the food allergies during making the reservation. We require 12 hours notice for all dietary needs so chefs could do their utmost preparing your meal.

 

6. Could we bring outside drinks into the restaurant?

Yes, kindly note that corkage charge will be applied on every bottle at RM50 each.

 

7. What is the dress code?

gēn has a smart casual dress code. For gentlemen, please refrain from wearing singlet, open-toed shoes, or ripped jeans to the restaurant.

NOTE: A deposit of RM50 nett per diner is required. Deposit amount will be deducted from the total bill. Reservation will be released for incomplete or failure payment within two days. No refund for cancellation, however, reservation date can be modified up to a maximum of 90 days from the first reservation date.
